Every year we make a trip to Birmingham to visit my family for Christmas. We always see strange things that make us laugh.

There is the temporary end to highway sign that is rusted. If the sign is rusted it's not temporary. There is the garage that is framed and has no roof on it yet they park their car in it. We saw that about 3 years in a row. We didn't see it this year because they finished a little more of the highway and we no longer detour around that house. It must be a Bama thing not to finish anything. I'm blaming the fact I have no less then 3 pieces of furniture that I have stripped the paint off of but never got around to sanding and staining on growing up here.

The funniest thing I saw on the way down here was a combination marker and lighter. Perfect gift for the chain smoker that had the pesky problem of having to stop using a marker so they could light their cigrate. I would have taken a picture of it if I had my camera.

I'm ready for the week to be over.  Can wait until friday to watch the thunder game on chltv from Memphis.

 

I met some of the most important people in my life because of hockey.

I went to my first hockey game in 1999.  I had just broke up with my boyfriend and a friend invited me to a game.  I thought " I won't like hockey but it is better than sitting at home alone"

I met my best friend that night and have been going to hockey ever since.  I started going to baseball with my friend from hockey and met my husband.   We became friends going to sports together and got married last month.

I also met the best mascot in the CHL at hockey,  Thunder dog.  He doesn't say much but he can crack me up with a look.  :)
